Greenwich Park Early History

Greenwich Park Estate is situated along the old Governor Macquarie Track, 32km on the Sydney side of Goulburn. As with many early settlements, Greenwich Park was a village that grew around a large rural estate. The original holding of "Greenwich Park" was granted to Mr John Jamieson in 1822. The first settlers left Sydney Cove and followed the Parramatta, Nepean and Hawkesbury Rivers, cleared the land, sowed crops, raised stock and established villages. In the early 1800’s, settlers moved south to Camden,  Berrima and Goulburn.

Governor Macquarie commissioned a road link from Camden to Goulburn, following the ridge passing Greenwich Park where settlers established a community in 1822, eventually building a school, church, race track, sports ground, and post office.

Greenwich Park developed into a noted fine wool and fat lamb producing property. From the 1950s, Greenwich Park became famous as one of Australia’s leading shorthorn cattle studs with its progeny winning numerous State and National Awards.

And today Greenwich Park Estate represents some of the most pleasant farms for sale in NSW, so if you are looking for a farm for sale near Goulburn, Marulan or in the Southern Highland region of NSW then consider Greenwich Park.
